Introducing the SPM series – Industrial Programmable Syringe Pumps, a complete line of OEM-ready devices built for precise and reliable fluid handling. Designed for scientific, medical, and engineering environments, each model in the SPM series combines an industrial syringe pump with AMF’s high-precision low-volume rotary valve. This smart, compact system is ideal for automating complex infusion and withdrawal protocols while minimizing internal volume and sample loss. Whether you need steady flow at nanoliter scale or consistent delivery under pressure, the SPM series delivers unparalleled ease, control, and reproducibility—ready to power your next microfluidic system or instrument.
The SPM series is an OEM-ready industrial programmable syringe pump line designed for automated microfluidic operations in lab and scientific settings. With a compact pumping head that minimizes the space between the syringe and AMF’s rotary valve, it achieves low volume, low carryover, and zero dead volume—making it ideal for high-precision liquid handling. Whether you need to infuse, withdraw, or perform continuous cycles, the SPM offers dual-mode operation and advanced pumping programs for full flexibility.
Built for accuracy and reliability, the system handles anything from nanoliter-scale dosing to milliliter-level dispensing, with exceptional rate accuracy and linear force control. It supports air or liquid samples, resists leakage, and features a configurable user interface with USB, TTL, and digital controller compatibility. Whether you’re working in chemistry, phd ultra-level research, or integrating into a production setup, the SPM series provides the critical features, configuration options, and programming capability to support your work with confidence.
The SPM series offers four distinct models, each tailored to different dosing volumes and performance requirements. Whether you’re fine-tuning microfluidic flows in early-stage R&D or deploying stable delivery profiles in industrial settings, there’s an SPM configuration built for your workflow.
Designed for ultra-compact setups, this version supports syringe sizes from 50 µL to 1 mL, making it a solid match for low-volume applications, method development, and academic labs focused on precision.
A step up in volume, this model with 2.5 mL or 5 mL syringes, giving users more flexibility for longer experiments, larger batch volumes, or systems that require higher throughput.
Built for ultra-smooth operation, this version (syringe sizes from 50 µL to 1 mL) integrates a gearbox to deliver pulseless flow and excellent rate stability down to 7.17 nL/min. It’s ideal for applications where low-flow consistency is critical.
Combining the best of both worlds, this model supports larger syringes (2.5 mL and 5 mL) while retaining the HD gearbox for exceptionally stable delivery, even at minimal flow rates.
Across the range, each SPM shares a commitment to precise fluid control, seamless integration, and high reliability, ensuring consistent performance no matter your application scale.
Both the Standard and HD variants of the SPM series share the same 30 mm plunger travel, but the HD version is designed for enhanced flow stability through significantly higher microstep resolution. The Standard models operate with 96,000 microsteps total, translating to roughly 3,200 microsteps per millimeter, while the HD models reach up to 1,296,000 microsteps, or about 43,200 microsteps per millimeter—a 13.5× increase in resolution over the same travel distance.
This improvement doesn’t change the physical step size, but it enables much smoother and more consistent flow, especially at ultra-low rates. The HD’s flow rate coefficient of variation drops from ~8 to ~2 at the lowest speeds, ensuring near-pulseless delivery even in nanoliter-per-minute regimes.
Comparative Flow Stability at 50 µL/min (5 mL Syringe)
In contrast, the Standard models can reach higher maximum flow rates, up to 150 mL/min with a 5 mL syringe, making them well-suited for faster fluid transfers. The HD models, optimized for stability over speed, cap their maximum flow rate at approximately 50 mL/min.
The SPM series is a modular OEM platform that adapts to your application—not the other way around. With a robust build and configurable architecture, it provides the flexibility you need to develop high-performance instruments at scale.
All wetted components are selected for chemical durability and biological compatibility:
This configuration supports a wide range of reagents, buffers, solvents, and biological fluids without compromising reliability or sealing performance.
Valve channels are available in 500 µm or 1 mm diameters. Thanks to AMF’s proprietary microfluidic geometry, internal volume can be reduced to as low as 3.6 µL, and carryover volume down to 1.5 µL (depending on valve type and port selection). This reduces reagent waste, improves cleaning efficiency, and enables faster, cleaner changeovers between samples.
With configurations ranging from 6 to 12 radial ports, the SPM’s rotary valve allows for efficient routing of multiple fluids—including samples, reagents, and air segments—across a compact footprint. Perfect for automated assays, fluid switching, or multi-step processing in a single module.
Available syringe volumes range from 50 µL to 5 mL, with all syringes constructed from borosilicate glass and equipped with PTFE plungers for smooth, repeatable motion. The system supports pressures up to 7 bar (102 PSI).
Depending on the configuration, the SPM series can deliver flow rates from 0.00717 µL/min (HD with 50 µL syringe) up to 150,000 µL/min (Standard with 5 mL syringe).
Each valve includes an embedded position sensor for accurate internal alignment. On startup, an automatic homing sequence ensures the rotor is correctly positioned before any flow begins.
All versions come with a fast-switching motor, capable of 400 ms port-to-port transitions, ideal for tight timing constraints in high-throughput or sequencing applications.
The valve head—including the stator, rotor, and syringe—can be quickly removed and replaced for cleaning or preventive maintenance. The SPM also supports 1/4-28 UNF fluidic connectors, making it compatible with most microfluidic platforms straight out of the box.

Welcome to our detailed FAQ section, built to enhance your understanding of the SPM – Industrial Programmable Syringe Pump.
The SPM Series by AMF is a family of industrial programmable syringe pumps built for integration into automated instruments and microfluidic devices. It’s ideal for laboratories, R&D platforms, and OEM applications that demand high precision, low volume handling, and robust fluid control.
Unlike peristaltic pumps, which are best for bulk fluid movement, the SPM offers precise dispensing, low internal volume, and programmable sequences for nano- to milliliter volumes. It’s optimized for repeatability, flow-rate stability, and clean transitions—key for scientific processes requiring accuracy.
Both offer a 30 mm plunger travel, but HD models feature higher step resolution (up to 1,296,000 microsteps), providing smoother, pulseless flow for ultra-low rates. The Standard versions support faster operation with flow rates up to 150 mL/min, while HD models are capped at 50 mL/min for enhanced flow stability.
The SPM series supports borosilicate glass syringes from 50 µL to 5 mL. Standard & HD variants handle up to 1 mL; SPM+ models extend to 5 mL, covering both low-volume and high-throughput needs.
With the HD configuration and a 50 µL syringe, the minimum flow rate can reach 0.00717 µL/min, making it suitable for highly controlled, long-duration infusion or low-volume dosing.
