Precision liquid handling with microfluidic port multiplexing

In the dynamic field of microfluidics, Advanced Microfluidics (AMF) sets the standard with state-of-the-art microfluidics valves and innovative liquid handling systems. Our technology, specifically designed for custom microfluidics applications, empowers scientists and researchers to perform complex experiments with unprecedented precision and efficiency.

Microfluidic port multiplexing is an innovative technique at the heart of modern laboratory automation, enabling researchers to control multiple fluid paths through single or multiple microfluidic devices. This method is crucial for experiments requiring the simultaneous management of different fluids, vastly increasing efficiency and precision.

Innovative solutions: LSPone and SPM Sequential Microdispensing

At the core of our microfluidic solutions are the LSPone laboratory syringe pump and the OEM SPM sequential microdispenser. These devices are central to specialized liquid handling and multiplexing, providing scientists and researchers with the tools needed for precise, automated and adaptable lab experiments. They are not just standard equipment but are also tailored for various experimental setups, making them ideal for both standard and custom applications.

Our syringe pumps come equipped with integrated distribution valves, a foundational element of this system. However, for more complex applications, additional ports may be necessary. Here is where the versatility of our microfluidic solutions, particularly our rotary microfluidics valves, shines. By utilizing our diverse range of distribution valves, you can achieve advanced port multiplexing, expanding your experimental capabilities without sacrificing space or functionality.

Microfluidic port multiplexing in action

A compelling illustration of microfluidic port multiplexing in practice is seen in a recent study of Xiaokang Li [1] where our LSPone syringe pumps facilitated an advanced immunopeptidomics workflow. The pumps were programmed via Python to handle varying flow rates for different experimental phases. Key to the setup was a 12-port programmable distribution valve, enabling the sequential injection of multiple reagents. This system was integrated with a post-immunoprecipitation (IP) peptide cleanup using C18 materials, connected through an automated 6-port switch valve. This innovative setup allowed for a decoupled or coupled mode operation, streamlining the workflow for HLA immunopeptidome purification in a fully automated manner.
